What is a Professional Organizer?
A Professional Organizer is someone who works with you to understand your unique needs and provides a customized solution that maximizes the efficiency of your personal space.

 

What does a Professional Organizer do?
An Organizer works side-by-side with you, guiding you through the choices of what to keep, what to part with, and suggesting how best to store the things you hold on to. By asking what you like and dislike about your living or storage space, we develop an understanding of what your goal is for that space – and help you achieve it. 

We are not entering into your home to clean, or make light of physically demanding work. We will suggest new ways for you to do things in your home and gradually implement changes that will allow you to maintain an organized living space.

 

How much does it cost?
The overall cost will depend on the scale of the job.  Let your Organizer know your budget for the project.  Identifying your limits and expectations will allow your Organizer to determine how best to serve you.  There are many things you can do to reduce your costs.  Talk to your Organizer about the role you will play throughout the organizing process. 

 

What forms of payment do you accept?
Payment can be made by personal cheque.

 

How long does it take to organize a space?
That really depends on the individual. Everyone is motivated at a different time and for different reasons to call an Organizer.  During your initial assessment, your Organizer provides a time estimate to complete the job. Then you schedule sessions with your Organizer at a time that suits you: daily, weekly, bi-weekly.  It really depends on how quickly you would like the job to progress and how much help you have along the way.

 

Do I need to be at home while you organize?
Yes please.  Decisions made throughout the organizing process are based on what matters to you and how you want to use your personal space.  We need your input to ensure that you get what you want.

 

Will I have to get rid of my stuff? What should I do with it?
The simple answer: probably.  Every job starts with sorting. Sorting usually leads to purging.  The majority of us have things-long-forgotten lurking at the back of a closet. Working with an Organizer gives you the opportunity to uncover hidden treasures and truly assess their importance. Once you are comfortable with letting go of some belongings, you have the option of discarding, selling, or donating them. We will provide options to help you decide the best way to deal with unwanted items.  Where needed, we can assist with the removal of items from your home, for a nominal fee.

 

What if I want to do the work myself? Do you offer any resources to teach me the basics?
Organizing is not one-size-fits-all.  We can work with you to develop a package that will suit your needs. Whether you want us to consult, or play a hands-on role for part of the project, we would welcome the opportunity to learn about your organizing needs.  Contact us to discuss the most suitable options.
